the red gecko

The Red Gecko is a family run business that originally comes from New Zealand and Germany.  Since The Red Gecko first opened in 2004 it has built on its strength of offering unique products, outstanding customer service and most importantly great value for money.  The Red Gecko has taken it's name from a little heard of New Zealand reptile called the Takitimu Gecko.  This gecko is unique to the Takitimu Mountains in New Zealand's stunningly beautiful South Island and it is generally quite an ordinary brown colour but has the ability to display vibrant red markings across it's back, this along with the fact that you can only find it in the one place make it truly unique.  At The Red Gecko we like to think we are just a little bit like the Takitimu Gecko!

One of the most important aspects of The Red Gecko is how we source ALL of our products ourselves directly from the countries they are made.  This enables us to not only verify the companies that we buy from or the family businesses that we deal directly with, but we are also able to offer our customers unique products that aren't everywhere on the high street.  In fact the only products we don't source directly are ones that we manufacture ourselves in our London workshop.  We have also initiated a scheme in Bali where we have all of our shopping bags made out of recycled newspaper, in the process creating a chain of jobs and doing our little bit for the environment.  

If you are tempted to visit one of our stores then you'll find an amazing range of wall sculpture, original art, prints, jewellery, handbags, homeware etc... the list truly goes on and on.  The list can get a little tiresome, so to cut a long story short normally when people ask what we stock, we just say 'LOTS OF NICE THINGS' and think this sums it up pretty well.
